the faire only comes once a month, for a week, the first week it sets up, and the second monday of that week it sets up i think… anywho, it switches between mulgore and Elwynn forest. the only problem with it is that higher lvls will be grinding lower lvl places for stuff like this to get tickets, so it will be annoying to try and be in the areas with mobs that drop these things because the lvl 60s will be killin everythin in sight =/

Actually, the 60’s will primarily be grinding the Evil Bat Eyes.  For each of the five animal parts you can turn in, the lowest options beome unavailable as your reputation with the fair increases.  If 60’s were relying on Soft Bushy Tails, for example, they’d find after turning in sixty or so that the quest option is no longer available.

Of course, with half of the professions offering their own quests with the fair, many players will find it unnecessary to hunt creatures.  As a Tailor/Enchanter, however, I currently have no choice but to grind for grey drops…

I think the quickest way to get these with the lowest effort is in The Roguefeather Den in 1k Needles.  They respawn in the cave almsost as fast as you can kill them, and you barely have to walk anywhere.  The plumes drop about every 3rd one that I’ve noticed and the harpies are only lvl 28-30 so killing them is simple.

I’m farming in Feralas, the Northspring Harpies bear exp for me (lvl 51 Hunter) and they have a somewhat good drop rate. They can be found at the Ruins of Ravenwind, in the northern most part of Feralas.

These owls now have the best droprate, at 26%.  They are found in northern Winterspring, and directly south of Everlook near the Moon cavern.  The northern winterspring region is perfect if you’re a tribal skinner, as mobs that can be skinned for chimera and warbear leather can be found in close proximity.

Just to clarify. The best place to grind these if you just want them fast and dont care about reputation, experience, other drops, or skinning is BY FAR in Thousand Needles from the Screeching Roguefeather, Screeching Harpy and Screeching Windcaller. Even though other mobs have higher droprate these mobs go down so fast and spawn so quickly that I as a lvl 60 mage only waited a little for respawn.
I think I only spent 2-3 hours grinding these before I could not turn anymore in to the Faire.

If you want other things like drops, experience, leather or BG reputation while getting these, by all means get them somewhere else, but then its not REAL farming 🙂

And after these I would say that Glowing Scorpid Blood should be the next thing to farm (in Silithus). I never really liked killing bats in EPL for Evil Bat Eyes, the scorpions in Silithus are alot easier to farm IMO.

I think the drop rate on these have been lowered for Ironbeak Screechers.  I fought 54 of these, with only 14 dropping.  That’s a 25.9% drop rate.

54 is kind of a small sample size, but I ran confidence intervals just in case.  If my math is right, I’m 95% sure that the drop rate for Ironbeak Screechers is between 14.1% — 37.7%, while I’m 99% sure it’s between 10.4% and 41.4%.

The Harpy Cave in Thousandneedles is a good place to get vibrantplumes it took me 25 min to get 10 of them

There’s a treasure chest that spawns rather frequently while farming the harpies.  It has mostly crap in it, but I found a silver bar as well as some other items that AH well.

Furthermore, while I was there, I seemed to get quite a few uncommon and one rare item; leastaways much more than I usually run across.  Perhaps it was simply making up for my abysmal luck otherwise, but it was a few things that made it even more worth it farming for the plumes.

Im in the thousand needles den and ive got no idea what im doing wrong.
Lvl 60 hunter just plain slaughtering 10 of them a at a time (using pet to grab then aoe) one out of every 15 drops 1.
Even if i change how i kill and kill them slower (dismiss pet and melee them 1 vs 1)
the drop rate is still about 15-20= 1 vibrant plume.

Whats going on?

(EDIT : Was just an unlucky night. Came back 3 days later and they started dropping 1 plume to 9 kills. much better. Its still pretty slow and boring though, kick on some music and dream of the amulet.

I looted 60 of these in 1 hour inside the cave in thousand needles, what I did was picking that test of endurance quest and just kept opening the boxes so waves and waves of harpies kept coming!

Can anyone confirm this? Thott has the Ironbeak Screechers of northern Felwood listed at 44%. They are low 50 however, so there is a tradeoff in how fast you can take them down at level 60.

hunt the harpies in thousand needles is without a doubt the fastest way to get these feathers, trust me! they are level 26-28 and dies in two melee hits from me with TUF, 60 warrior ms build. btw doing the bats in epl probably isnt faster bcos whilst i quested there i killed alot of em and didnt find much eyes at all!

First a BIG THANKS to guys that posted the trick of the horde quest.

If you are horde get that quest :

Finish the 1st part, Test of Faith (very easy, just jump of the cliff) and then you will get the second part Test of Endurance.

That quest is inside the Harpies cave and now you can klick the boxes at the end of it. When you click one of the boxes, 3 waves of harpies come. Ofcourse I NEVER went to deliver the quest.

With my lvl 60 Mage I just stood there clicking the boxes wave after wave coming and AoE ftw.

I was killing hundrends of those in minutes.

Got enough Vibrant Plumes in 3-4 hours to finish up all the Plumes delivers (I started with ZERO (0) reputation with the Darkmoon Feiry),I had some Plumes sulprus too which were sold to AH for a decent price and made me a few gold.

Also I got numerous grennies and FIVE (5) Blues of 24-26 level. Do you believe that ? FIVE Blues (of low level but those was sold for 8-10g at my server AH very easily due to chinise farmers selling similar staff from 20-30g to 60-70g, if you add the grennies and TONS of Silk Cloth I got I have made about 100g that day).

My problem is now how do I go further than this. Tailoring/Enchanting no proffesions quests. And that bat eyes farming seems wayyyy too boring.

EDIT: The 4 out of 5 blues I got are : (It seems I cannot find the last one in thottbot, a mace or something)

I went to Winterspring to grind XP 8 Vibrant Plumes. I killed around 25 owls and got 7 of them, good enough, but the last one wasn’t that easy to get… I actually had to kill 40 owls to get it >_<

After patch 1.11 these feathers is not grey anymore, changed to white. About time! 🙂

Радужное пероs are useful to players looking to earn some Подарочный купон ярмарки Новолунияs during the Darkmoon Faire.
The Darkmoon Faire can be found in either Goldshire in Elwynn Forest or Mulgore at the base of Thunder Bluff.

One of the most common locations to farm these are from Визгливая гарпияs and other similar harpy mobs in Тысяча Игл. (Their cave can be found at 27,51.)

The Roguefeather Den in Thousand Needles is a great place to farm these for whatever you want them for. You also get tons of Silk, Wool, coin and some greens. In the time it took me to loot 35 Vibrant Plumes I got 7 greens, 4 stacks of silk, 6 stacks of wool and about 65 Light Feathers.

I’ve been killing a ton of the snowblind in AV, did they nerf the drop rate or anything? I haven’t seen a single vibrant plume yet.

I’m level 54, neutral faction, any reason as to why they might not be dropping? I cleared my way too my banner and back out with not a single drop. I must have killed atleast 100 of the mobs.

I could only hand in 80 of these at the Darkmoon fair yesterday instead of the before mentioned 125 until the quest becomes unavailable. Anyone knows why ? Hadn’t handed in other stuff before …

There are tons of other places that it drops go grind there.

I got 28 plumes while I was farming for mageweave cloth at the Ruins of Ravenwind in Feralas (killing the northspring slayers and such…)

I spent about an hour there and managed to get 110 mageweave, 28 vibrant plumes, 24 purple lotus, green pants, and a jewelcraft design…and some various other items, but I found it was worth it. 🙂

Best place I have found to get the Vibrant Plumes is northern Feralas in the ravenwind ruins off the Bloodfury Harpy, Roguefeather, Windcallers and Slayers. Farmed about 20 in an hour

52,72 is a HUGE amount of Vibrant Plumes.

I’ve gotten 3 in a couple of minutes.

Drops from frayfeather skystormer most.

Hinterlands the grphon type birds drops them, I got them while doing another quest so I don’t question how long it took me, but I got about 6 throughout the time I was killing other stuff.

in Ferelas off the Harpies in the ruins. Gathered 8 stacks in 2.5 to 3 hours (plus 2 blues). Had already turned in a few, sold the extras right there at the faire for 75s a stack. 😛

Here is your answer:

If all you do is turn in vibrant plumes you will get a max of 312 tickets (lvl 60 when did turn ins.) They take 5 at a time and give you 12 tickets so that is 26 stacks of 5 vibrant plumes. However, the plumes stack in 10’s so really you only need 13 stacks of vibrant plumes (or 130 plumes total) before you max out this particular donation. Doing just the vibrant plumes will NOT get you to friendly tho, so start saving up those Evil Bat Eyes and Glowing Scorpid stuff as well.

The tickets can be obtained at any level. Different level bands get access to different hand-ins based on the mob level of what drops the specific grey.
Only the Amulet and Orb (the 1200 ticket hand in) require you to be lv60

I think the other lower down ticket hand-ins have level requirements

Find a lower level player that has the quest, «Test of Endurance» in Thousand Needles. Go to the Roguefeather Den and have the player with the quest smash the crates to spawn massive waves of Harpies. They can get the quest item as well as several Wool and Silk drops plus some greens. You can get all the Vibrant Plumes that you can hold.

Once he destroys a crate, swarms of Harpies appear for you to kill. Just help keep agro off of the lower level guy and you should be OK. (If lowbies keep dying, their willingness to help you diminishes rapidly; however, if they keep getting good loot for their level they will maintain an interest.)

He may have to destroy crates several times, to get enough, but there will be enough drops to keep the lower level player interested in helping you. You can get enough Vibrant Plumes to max out your turn-in for them, and possibly surplus to sell to others who could not get the same help.

Helpful looting hint: you may want to move around because if the Harpy corpses pile up around a single location it makes looting them harder.

The reason for the lvl60 on the quest is that it needs to be to be viewable as a ! or ? for lvl60’s otherwise you would have to talk to all and see which ones that actually have the quests.

With the recent reputation buff, you’ll get 250 rep per turnin, limiting you to 11 turnins, no matter what level you turn them in.

Another great place to farm plumes is the harpies in Thousand Needles. I spent about an hour in the cave and got 3 stacks. OMW back ther now to do it again.

I think that its unfair that there isnt something to trade with in all the professions.. My best Character has herb and alchemy.. And you cant make anything you can trade for tickets.. Its unfair.. 😉

I used my frost mage to farm these off the sky shadows in deadwind pass. The mobs are lvl 55-56 and you might have to beat the bots (which you’ll learn how to do after a while), but the plumes have a 33% drop chance and you can make several gold each run off the grey bits that drop too (and plenty of buzzard wings/giant eggs if you’re after food buffs). It’s even close to SW which makes it handy for passing away the time in the AV queue.

Хотя во всяких случайностях есть закономерное желание – поймать удивительно красивую рыбу, переливающуюся многими красками и оттенками.
Собираясь в очередной раз на рыбалку на Кольский полуостров, и не думали сплавляться  по реке на катамаранах. Хотели просто постоять на море, половить морскую рыбу – треску, камбалу, а потом переехать на озера и там порыбачить. Решили полностью отдаться стационарному отдыху, неспешной ловле рыбы, сбору грибов и ягод и просто познавательным прогулкам по лесу. Поэтому из сплавсредств  взяли всего один небольшой катамаран («двоечку») да надувную резиновую лодку. На катамаране предполагалось плавать по озеру, ловить на спиннинг щук да окуней, а лодку взяли как бы про запас, если что случится с катамараном.  
На «двоечку» грузились 4–5 человек со всем рыбацким снаряжением, и этот «рыболовецкий траулер» каждый день отправлялся бороздить просторы большого, но спокойного озера. Пока гребцы упирались на веслах, рыбачки умудрялись, даже при такой скученности на «палубе», пулять приманки по оба борта. Воблеры, твистеры, блесны, поролонки свистели порой возле самого уха, будто хотели стать оригинальной серьгой.  
Так, плавая от острова к острову да вдоль береговой линии, где в траве стояли крупные щуки, ловили их по 5–6 штук за день. На блесенки поменьше брали большие окуни, один раз эхолот показал такое скопление рыбы, что весь экран покрылся черными условными знаками. Как ни пытались блеснить мы в этом месте в отвес с катамарана, ничего не поймали. Наверное, это была большая стая плотвы или сига, но не хищной рыбы. Окуни ни за что бы не пропустили наши «волшебные» воблеры.  
Каждый день был рыбным, но меню не очень разнообразным. Уха щучья, на второе – жареные окуни, если находился доброволец их чистить. Когда таковой не объявлялся, их просто коптили в ольховом дыму.  
Все эти окунево-щучьи рыбные блюда сначала съедались с удовольствием, но потом на столе стали оставаться  и куски щуки, и даже целые золотисто-полосатые окуни. Грибы тоже быстро надоели, и народ уже требовал у поваров «в супе мяса».  
– Все уха да уха, щуки да окуни, обещали семгой кормить, – обижались рыбные гурманы.  
– Зачем везли два ящика с тушенкой? Куда подевалась гречка? – пищали женщины и дети.  
Монотонная рыбалка на озере за полторы недели тоже порядком надоела, и уловы не особо радовали. Все привыкли к щукам и окуням так, что они не вызывали восторга, как в первые дни. Привезенный опарыш уже окуклился, и половить плотву и сига на него не удалось. Группа разделилась на «молодых» и «старых», то есть кому за двадцать и кому за пятьдесят, и «молодежь» все чаще намекала, что хотела бы сплавиться по реке.  
– Зачем сюда ехали, за щуками и окунями? Мы хотели половить хариуса, сига, ту рыбу, которой у нас нет, – сказал Кирилл, главный бунтовщик «молодых».  
– Какой хариус? Где ты его поймаешь? Ходили по речке на пять-десять километров – ни одной «потычки». Кто вас будет забирать, когда приплывете? Посмотрите, какая дорога, самим бы выехать! Кто сядет за ваши машины? – орали «деды», которым стационарный покой был дороже молодежной авантюры.  
Вдоль реки шла разбитая дорога, и молодежь ультимативно заявила, что после сплава они встанут на ней, а мы должны ждать телефонного звонка, благо сотовая связь уже проникла в глухие уголки Кольского полуострова.  
С тревогой наблюдали за сборами двух молодых семей в столь небольшое, но интересное рыболовное путешествие. Чем одарит их река, какие впечатления и сюрпризы преподнесет она им?.. Ведь мы не собирались сплавляться, не было ни лоции, ни описания порогов, да и вообще даже не знали, есть ли они на этой реке.  
Взяв с собой «сухпай» на два дня, палатку и рыболовные снасти, Володя, Татьяна и сын Саша отчалили на катамаране. Кирилл, Наталья и Степан пошли на утлой надувной лодочке. Их проводили под возгласы: «Безумству храбрых поем мы песню!» и грохнули дуплетом из ружья, а дед Евгений перекрестил своего внука.  
Все они были опытными походными людьми, и за плечами у них пройдено немало таких речек, да и дети бывали в водных походах не раз. Но так спонтанно, без основательной подготовки, как на пешую прогулку…  
По этой реке раньше сплавляли лес, и опасность представляли не пороги и шиверы, а старый топляк и огромные бревна, в которые забиты железные крючья, острые скобы: о них легко при прижиме порвать лодку.  
Но как говорится, охота пуще неволи, и наши путешественники давно скрылись за поворотом.
Пятьдесят километров сплава, много ли это для двух дней по воде, но на машинах мы прорывались почти целый день.  
Два дня ушло на сборы лагеря, и вот раздался долгожданный звонок с реки. «Молодые» радостно сообщали, что у них все нормально, что уже вытащили катамаран на дорогу и ждут нас, что рыбалка была прекрасной и поймали  они десятка два крупного хариуса.  
На обратной дороге встретили их, веселых и довольных. Правда, катамаран пришлось тащить на руках в гору полтора километра, но это было им не впервой.  
Насчет рыбалки: река оказалось «девственной», малопосещаемой даже местным населением. Все едут на озера, и редко кто сплавлялся, а если и сплавлялся, то не рыбачил на ней. Ведь на все клевые места, где брал хариус, можно подойти только с воды.  
А хариусы стояли и только ждали маленькой светлой блесенки. Хватали они с жадностью, в момент приводнения, и бросались на нее по два-три красавца сразу. Ловили и с воды, и с берега, но с лодки ловля была более удачной: подплыть можно куда хочешь и сделать точный заброс. Ну а сама борьба с такой сильной рыбой – наслаждение. Это не щука, которую выволок на берег да и все. Хариус такие свечи делает, раскрыв красочное перо плавника, залюбуешься!  
Дети тоже получили хорошие уроки рыбалки, когда им давали выводить уже подсеченную рыбу. Степан взахлеб рассказывал, как он «крутил катушку, а папа его в сачок, а мама брызгала нас водой с весел, а он как утянет под лодку, ох, я и намучился».  
Потом Кирилл рассказывал в машине, что он и не ожидал такой рыбалки. «Думал, пройдем ради интереса, да и все. А здесь мы как первопроходцы – чистая река и непугливый хариус. Такое бывает в труднодоступных местах, где наш братец-турист и рыболов еще не побывали. Его-то, хариуса, тоже везде повыбили. Народ ездит, путешествует, ловит, а тут как земляничная поляна с крупной спелой ягодой и ты первый на ней. Так и мы: буквально нарвались на хариуса, он там годами стоял под порогом и будто ждал наши блесны».  
Да, молодцы, что поплыли, река в награду подарила такую рыбалку, которая на всю жизнь запомнится, а Степану – тем более.  
Безумству храбрых поем мы песню! Да и не безумство это, а просто большое желание – увидеть и поймать.
